4. Need of research
Users, even from the same department, differ in respective requirements for management information system, which provides individualized services for enterprise and non-enterprise users so as to better serve business management improve efficiency and raise production capacity and management level. Individualized service is closely connected with systematic structure in enterprise’s management information system.
5. Review of the literature
According to relevant literature, enterprise’s management information system has undergone four periods in its development, which exert different influence in structure and individuation of the system.
Period 1. Structuring programming technology. Adopted in earlier enterprise management information system, it exerts digital management and application through procedure that seems basically impossible to realize systematic individuation unless interface and procedure are customized independently for every user.
Period 2, Object-oriented programming technology. It packs data and algorithm in one object and completes programming work in line with different objects. The systematic structure of this kind features certain individuation .As a granular package that makes it difficult to integrate individuation with object in package; the individuation needs to be realized in lower object layer. Without flexible object assembly and self-adapting mechanism, individualized service is simply a dead end.
Period 3. N-layer programming technology. New programming methods such as J2EE and SOA complete business package at higher layer, even from business needs. Systematic structure of this kind features easy access to individuation by dealing with logic, business, presentation and data at different layers through MVC. Such technology is mostly used to realize individuation.
Period 4 Agent programming technology. Agent and Multi-Agent define the emerging programming thinking and methods that boast intelligence. Aside from featuring business-oriented package, it intelligently, via MVC, presents business diagrams according to users’ habits, intentions and methods, thus an authentic individualized service for enterprise’s management information system.
In terms of development process and individuation degree of business management information system, the systematic structure is closely related to individuation. It is necessary to analyze factors in such structure that affect individuation and make further comparison between factors in weighing individuation in order to offer better individualized service for enterprise’s management system with regard to systematic structure.
6. Research strategy and methods
Among the existing methods such as experiment, survey and case study, the thesis conducts research by combining survey and case study.
6.1. Investigate proportion and approach of main complements in systematic structure during four periods and find out relations between individuation degree and each factor in systematic structure.
6.2. Select a few classic cases from each period to study relations between factors in systematic structure and individuation degree through establishing relations modes.
6.3. Randomly select some cases to validate established modes.
7. Research techniques
In order to realize research goal, the thesis uses survey approach to analyze weighing proportion of factors in relations mode concerning systematic structure and individuation. The survey looks at the dual objects from different angles of researcher, user and manager to determine proportions in the mode.
As for proved relation modes, they can be used to validate relations between management information systematic structure and individuation and ultimately to guide research and development of management information system to realize individualized service in systematic structure.
8. Approach analysis
Adopt approach to combine quantitive analysis with qualitative one.
Qualitative analysis determines factors of systematic structure that affect individuation and relations modes.
Quantitive analysis determines weighing and proportion of factors that affect relations modes.
9. Examination and validation
After finishing the relations modes and factor coefficient, using typical system to validate the modes and factor coefficient in order to examine effectiveness and limit of the modes.
